Artwork Specifications

Preparing print-ready artwork

Supply artwork at the finished size, and confirm the exact specifications for your product with VSM before exporting.

Bleed, trim and safe area

For standard commercial printing, allow 3 mm bleed on every edge unless your quote specifies otherwise. For an A4 finished page (210 × 297 mm), the artwork including 3 mm bleed is 216 × 303 mm. Keep important text and logos at least 3–5 mm inside the trim line; some products need more.

Bleed is artwork extending beyond the cut edge. Trim is the finished cutting boundary. Safe area is where essential content belongs.

File setup checklist

  • Preferred: press-quality PDF with fonts embedded or outlined, correct page dimensions and bleed.
  • Use CMYK where possible; spot colours and exact brand matches must be agreed in advance.
  • Use 300 ppi images at final print size for most small-format work. Large-format signage may have different effective-resolution requirements.
  • Include crop marks outside the bleed only when requested; do not put marks inside the finished artwork.
  • Check spelling, page order, transparency, image quality and line weights.
  • For contour-cut stickers and decals, confirm the required vector cut path, naming, spot colour and offset with VSM before preparing the file.

Exporting from Canva

  1. Open your design and check the final dimensions.
  2. Enable print bleed in Canva’s print settings and extend backgrounds to the bleed boundary.
  3. Select Share → Download → PDF Print.
  4. Enable crop marks and bleed if requested for your product.
  5. Select CMYK if your Canva plan provides that option; otherwise share the file us to download.
  6. Download the PDF, check every page and send the final version.

Sharing your Canva design

If you need us to access the editable Canva design, use Share and invite VSM using the email address sales@vinylstickersandmore.com.au, or provide an appropriately permissioned design link. Do not use a public edit link unnecessarily. We may require access to licensed elements or fonts.

Important: Embroidery, DTF, rigid signage and promotional products may need artwork prepared differently. We will confirm the specifications for those jobs before production.
